• Cruising Down Kerala…On a Houseboat…Sipping on Lassi & Juice

When I was inquiring about potential weekend trips in India, Kerala was one of the most talked about destinations.  Similar to Goa, Kerala is located on the west coast of India, although Kerala is further south.  Kochi, the main airport of Kerala is merely an hour away from Bangalore, making it a perfect weekend destination.  After our directionless trip to Goa, I learned my valuable lesson and did a good amount of research prior to landing in Kerala.  I also reached out to a friend who runs an amazing travel concierge service, and her associate put together a fun filled itinerary for us. Kerala is popular tourist destination filled with…

  • Go Go Go Goa

Two weeks after our Singapore trip, we decided to visit Goa, one of the most popular vacation spots in India.  Goa is located northwest of Bangalore, and the best part is that it only takes a little over an hour to fly there.  We decided to stay at the Marriott Goa Resort, which is approximately an hour away from the Goa Airport.  It was a fairly scenic drive with beautiful water views.  Goa, being a vacation town, was a huge departure from the hustle and bustle of Bangalore.  The roads are mostly one lane per side, although traffic was minimal. Our gracious driver gave us a quick overview of…

  • Singapore Days Two & Three

Before we get to day two, I didn’t finish day one in my last post.  We ended up buying a whole duck from Duck Master on the way back to the hotel, and the two of us ate the duck hovering over the hotel room’s small desk.  The duck was very delicious, even though we were both full from a long day of nonstop eating, we ended up devouring the duck.  The skin was perfectly crispy, while the meat was tender and juicy.  I wish we had some rice to accompany the duck, or pancake so that we could have DIY Peking Duck. After the duck feast, we mustered…

  • Singapore Day One

Two weeks after arriving in India, we decided to take a weekend trip to Singapore.  I’ve lived in Singapore for 3 months for work approximately 10 years ago, and have fond memories of my time there, most of which can be attributed to the food cultural in Singapore.  Unfortunately, Singaporean food has not really caught on in the States, and it is extremely hard to find decent Singaporean food outside of Singapore. The husband has never been, so I made sure to plan a weekend packed with trying as many different types of dishes as we can possibly handle. We took the red-eye and landed in Singapore around 8am.  While…

  • So… What is India Like?

Ever since we arrived in Bangalore, I have exchanged a number of texts and emails with friends/families back in the US.  The first question is inevitably, “so, what is India like?”  I understand the curiosity as most of my close friends and/or families have never been to India.  It has been tough coming up with a succinct answer without going into paragraphs as I will do here.  My go-to response has been “the food is great, but the traffic is horrendous”, which does not truly encapsulated my experiences here thus far. My initial reaction of Bangalore, or Bengaluru as it is officially known as, is that it reminded me of…

  • Hello From The Other Side… Of The World

We are in India!  After a ridiculously long flight, we finally made it to Bangalore India!  The flight itself was quite interesting in that there were 300 empty seats.  As a result, I was able to fulfill my fantasy of having the middle row of four seats all to myself.  While the husband enjoyed his comfy business class seat, I created my own version of “flat bed seat” and lay flat across all four seats throughout the flight.  Don’t judge me, everyone in economy did the same.  That’s right, everyone got their own row, it’s like Oprah was there to hand out rows of seats, “you get a row, and…
